Given the overwhelming success of my Carpe Diem (Seize the Day!) coins, I designed a companion coin which follows the same theme of making the most of today because time is fleeting and tomorrow is uncertain. The Carpe Noctem (Seize the Night!) coin is somewhat "darker" and more macabre in its design, reminding the holder that:

Time destroys all things ~ Tempus Edax Rerum,

Death conquers all ~ Mors Vincit Omnia, and

It is how well you live that matters, not how long ~ Quam Bene Vivas Refert Non Quam Diu...

with an instruction to go and Seize the Night! ~ Carpe Noctem

Carpe Noctem Coins are 39mm in diameter, and approximately 2.7mm thick (10 gauge). The Carpe Noctem Coins are minted in the USA, by America's oldest mint founded in 1835.

    Fun "Little" Coin!

I've been getting interested in something like this for a while, not certain if this is a perfect fit, but I do love the design and phrases used! I really only have 3 things to say about this coin. First: This is a dense coin! It's significantly larger in all dimensions than a half dollar, and it's quite heavy which is nice for fidgeting with, but it might genuinely hurt if you drop it on a toe! I ordered the Silver Coin (packaging from REC says silver too). With a VERY bright flashlight, it looks nearly similar to the picture, but even under a studio light it has a much warmer "dirty" color with brown and golden hues, unlike the product picture that looks Black and White by comparison. I wish the coin had ridges around the edge. I used to do magic as a kid, and it's always fun to break out the old coin tricks. However, because the edges are smooth and the coin is so large and heavy, there are certain moves that are basically impossible because of a lack of friction. All-in-all, it's expertly crafted and the design is quite nice! I look forward to new designs from CARPE DIEM EDC should they come to REC :) Cheers! Stanton
