Firearm Transfers

FIREARM TRASFERS ARE DONE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, PLEASE EMAIL BRIAN@RIVERSEDGECUTLERY.COM BEFORE HAVING ANYTHING SENT TO US!

Please be aware that River's Edge Cutlery is not responsible for any damage of firearms during shipping! It's advisable to always purchase from a reputable seller! 

If you've acquired a firearm from an online retailer and wish to transfer it to REC, we require the firearm to be sent to us through an FFL.

REC always appreciates your proactive communication when something is enroute to us. To inform us of your online firearm purchase, please send an email to brian@riversedgecutlery.com and include your contact information, details of the firearm(s) being shipped, and the sender's information. 

It's preferable for you to forward the confirmation email received from the seller as well. This email should include:

  1. Your name and contact details (phone number and valid email address) for communication regarding the pickup of your transfer.
2. Make and model of the firearm being transferred. Include any necessary info / Accessories that will be shipping with it.

3. A digital copy of their valid FFL if available. (Hard copies are normally sent with firearm and are acceptable)

4. A tracking number, so we know when to expect it and to make sure we have someone there to sign for it.



Upon receiving your firearm(s), we will record them in our FFL Log Book. Once logged, we will notify you via email that your item(s) are ready for pickup and will provide you with available appointment times.


Please be aware that we only do Firearm transfers on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

When collecting your new firearm: Ensure you have a VALID Ohio Driver’s license with your CURRENT address. If your ID is not expired but your address has changed, a second approved form of Government issued ID with the current address is required (e.g., ODNR Fishing License or Hunting License, Range Permit, Ohio CHL, Ohio BMV Vehicle Registration, or even a completed USPS Change of Address form) along with a piece of mail that shows the current address

You'll also need to complete the 4473 form when you come in. After the form is completed and your Identification is copied into our records, we will run your information through the FBI's Law Enforcement Enterprise Portal (LEEP)
Upon Approval, and payment of the transfer fee, we will then release the firearm(s) to you as the owner.

PLEASE NOTE: We are only able to transfer Non-Class III at this time.

IMPORTANT: If you don’t pass a background check, It is up to the seller what happens next. If you are a first-time buyer, it would be good to check this ahead of time. On our end, the transfer fee would still need to be paid along with the return shipping since all of the costs and liability still apply to the failed transaction.
