I don't own the original version that came out years ago but have handled it. I have to say that this mini is much easier to handle and carry. Out of the box it was Benchmade sharp. What I mean about that is that I had to spend a little time on the strop to get it to shave arm hair. Every Benchmade I've bought has been that way so I expect that when buying them. Otherwise everything else was prefect out of the box. It is a great knife and if you have been debating about getting one, like I was, just go ahead and get it. You won't be disappointed.
