The Shark-Lock™ mechanism is situated on the spine of the knife and operated with a ramp-like ‘fin.’ Opening the blade makes the spring-driven lock arm move up and then into a notch in the tang, situating it beneath a lock pin. This range of movement is noteworthy. It’s unique in that the locking mechanism moves forward and back while also moving up and down. This allows for a greater sized blade tang, making a better mechanical advantage in a specific area. And because the drive spring that moves the locking element up into the locked position is contained within the locking arm itself, it won’t be subject to dirt and grime. The Shark-Lock™ is very comparable to most Tri-Ad locks for its size and weight. The AD-20.5 has been tested to 875-inch pounds of torque, this is a very impressive number for a 3.5 oz. knife.

    AD 20.5

The knife arrived quickly after my order, so I have absolutely no complaints there. Fit and finish on the knife are good, though the Shark Lock release is very sharply jimped and may wear a callus on my finger if I play too much with it, which is highly likely, since it is a fun fidget toy. It wasn’t as sharp out of box as I had hoped, but a little touch up and stropping took care of that. All in all, I’m very satisfied with this AD 20.5.

    Great knife

I couldn’t be happier with this knife. I liked it so much I went snd got a clip point version as well. It’s a very light carry for me and the “shark” lock is firm and robust. The scales fit nicely in my hand and with some practice one handed operation is a cinch … but it did take a few days to get used to handling. Comfortable in the pocket at any position. I usually carry high towards the top. The orange is vibrant and wears well. The factory edge is very nice and has stayed sharp. I’ve always limited myself to $200 or less for an pocket knife, but after carrying this for a couple weeks I’m really looking hard at the other Demko offerings. I see more Demko in my future even another 20.5. Comparing both versions, the clip point and the shark foot … they are equal EDC performers for me. I wouldn’t hesitate to grab either one when they are available.
