Microtech LUDT gen 3 Merlot handle

Posted by Jason R. on 19th Mar 2025

Purchased this from REC 04 Mar 2025. Always want to evaluate a new knife before I submit a review. This is the first OTS from Microtech for me, as usual build quality is outstanding from MT. In the past I have had an OTS from Paragon but the LUDT is orders of magnitude better quality. So far I am impressed by the fit and finish, deployment, and stability of the blade. No wiggle in any direction when locked up or closed. You can tell the blade rides on bearings due to the smooth opening. The Apocalyptic stonewash finish is perfect for this blade shape, and I love the rich red color of the Merlot handle couples with the grey hardware. The traction inserts in the handle are functional and do not pose a problem on the pocket clips side as far as retrieving the knife from the pocket and they do not abrade the top of your pants pocket. Another plus is with the Apocalyptic finish on the blade all the nomenclature printing on the show side kind of disappears in most lighting conditions. The blade was shaving sharp right out of the box, I am very happy to have this model in the collection. As always REC customer service does not disappoint.
