Spyderco Retract
The Retract showcases renowned custom knifemaker Ed Schempp's vision for a dramatically curved folder that maximizes cutting leverage. The recurved blade crafted from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel echoes the geometry of a Nepalese kukri, with a negative angle that significantly enhances performance on draw cuts. The full-flat grind creates efficient cutting geometry across the blade's entire curve. Skeletonized stainless steel liners provide a structural foundation while reducing weight, paired with peel-ply-textured G-10 scales and a partial G-10 backspacer for secure grip. The stout liners form a reliable LinerLock mechanism machined nearly flush to prevent unintentional closure during use. Spyderco's trademark round hole enables fast one-handed deployment despite the unconventional blade shape. A deep-pocket wire clip reverses for left or right side tip-up carry and keeps the knife riding low. A lined lanyard hole offers an alternative carry method. Distinctive geometry meets proven reliability in a design that cuts with exceptional leverage.
