Who Is Chapman Lake Knives?

Chapman Lake Knives is where craftsmanship meets family values and exceptional quality. Chapman Lake Knives is a small, family-owned business founded by two brothers in the heart of Bloomington, Indiana. Their passion lies in creating exceptional blades using top-tier American materials and the most exacting engineering standards available.

As a part of the Chapman Lake Instrument family, renowned for producing orthopedic implants, surgical tools, and blades, CLK benefits from a unique synergy. Chapman Lake Knives' lead designer, drawing from his aerospace engineering background and the company's surgical blade expertise, embarked on a mission to craft the ultimate knives in terms of performance and precision. And guess what? They're proud to say that every one of our knives is proudly manufactured right here in the USA.

The final result for the Chapman Lake Knives CLK-2D is a surprisingly "easy in the pocket" 4.1 oz. button-lock, flipper knife that looks and feels unlike anything else.

    Excellence

Bad news first -- the knife handle could stand to be a little easier to grip. It's very nice looking but very smooth and combined with the generous chamfer the handle offers little chance to get traction with your grip. Aside from that, the action is beautiful (there's three different bearing cages in the pivot), the button lockup is strong but the overall detent effect is very well balanced. And the hollow ground blade is both flawless and razor sharp.
