Spyderco Sage 6

The Sage 6 is a standout in Spyderco’s innovative Sage Series, which honors the designs and contributions of renowned knife makers. The sixth installment in this series features the Button-Release Compression Lock, a variation of Spyderco’s renowned Compression Lock mechanism, developed by custom knifemaker Kevin Smock. This addition of a button release simplifies the lock’s operation, making it easier to disengage and transforming the Sage 6 into one of Spyderco’s most “fidget-friendly” folding knives.

    Humble Brag

My first Spydie was the Sage 1 from the old REC location off Trueman Blvd. I now all all 6 versions and will certify under oath that the Sage 6 is the best of them all. ATM I still have the double detent ball installed on mine and plan to keep it there. It's not as drop shutty as the 5, but honestly that's a stupid You Tube metric I have no need for. The double detent ball makes opening and closing this knife as smooth as a baby's bottom, and the button actuated compression lock is a no brainer.

THIS is the perfect Sage build...same lock setup as the Smock (double detent and all), so much easier to close left-handed, and those classic Spyderco ergos that make it fit the hand perfectly. If I had to complain about something, it would just be the peel-ply carbon fiber scales, but I'm sure it won't be long before there are some aftermarket options out there.
