Spyderco Thyn
The Thyn is Michele Pensato's sleeker interpretation of the popular Slym—designed for minimalists, everyday carry enthusiasts, and those who appreciate refined engineering in a pocket-friendly package. Manufactured by lionSTEEL exclusively for Spyderco, this folder features a 2.94-inch Böhler-Uddeholm M390 blade at 0.125 inches thick with a full flat grind and drop-point profile, delivering exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance. At 6.71 inches overall and just 2.3 ounces, the Thyn proves light enough to truly disappear while remaining substantial enough to handle genuine cutting tasks—approximately 14 percent smaller than its Slym brother while retaining all the essential performance features.
The unique one-piece titanium handle is painstakingly machined from solid titanium using lionSTEEL's SOLID technology and protected by a durable gray PVD coating. The obverse side showcases a striking black-and-white fatcarbon Dark Matter Polar Carbon Fiber inlay creating distinctive visual character, while the reverse houses the sturdy Reeve Integral Lock mechanism with long-wearing hardened steel interface. Ball-bearing washers deliver an ultra-smooth action paired with both a flipper tab and Trademark Round Hole for flexible one-hand opening options. The deep-pocket reversible clip enables left or right-side carry, while the generously sized lanyard hole accommodates fobs or safety lines. This is refined minimalism meeting serious performance—a knife that proves excellence thrives at smaller scales.
